Story of Elite Revolutionists!!

Few years ago a political party suddenly gained a lot of popularity among Pakistani youth, after struggling for more than 10 years. The main reason of its sudden popularity was the ideology of the party leadership which consisted of “Corruption free New Pakistan”. As every sensible Pakistani was fed up of ongoing corruption in the country; though the party maybe was clear about its vision but supporters were never. Many of the supporters thought that mentioned party is of right wing and will make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state, and on other hand the elite youth of the party were of the view that party is a leftist and will uphold socialist vision in Pakistan. Then someone in the party started a social media campaign; though that campaign gathered many members for the party but most of the new members were immature youngsters who started abusing each and every person who even slightly doubted the vision of the party, at times I was also victim of that abusive behavior. People who doubted the vision of the party had every right to do so because opportunists started taking advantage of the sudden popularity of the party, and started joining the party. Many old faces from different parties joined the party and pushed the old workers to the back of stage. Old members started leaving the party and again that excited youth kept abusing those old members who left the party. The main slogan of the party that they will bring a revolution in the country by cleaning off the corrupt elements, was proven false and fake when head of the party’s UK wing resigned, in her resignation letter she clearly mentioned few names of the party leadership who rigged the inter party elections and maligned the Old workers who raised voice against the rigging. This letter raised an important question “if a party can’t ensure free and fair inter party elections, how will it change the whole country and how will it ensure transparency and honesty in the whole country which they couldn’t ensure among their members?” so should we assume that the opportunists tuned the new party according to their old habits of corruption, bribes and dishonesty? Should we believe the voices that the party leadership changed its vision just to become electable and followed the path of typical old political parties of the country? These answers are yet to be cleared but one thing is clear that the change they were shouting about was not about the country but in their own vision and destiny so in the end we are left with same old choices, choosing a less corrupt party among all corrupt parties.
Let’s hope someday a real leader will bring a real revolution in the country. And we will be able to see a better Pakistan, which was dream of Allama Iqbal, a platform for uniting the whole Muslim Ummah.
